Clinical studies

Documentation

Since we launched the LoFric catheter in 1983 we have developed the catheter in close collaboration with users and healthcare staff, and refinements are constantly being made.

The documentation for intermittent catheterisation using the LoFric catheter is currently both more extensive and more long-term than for any other catheter.

Conducting long-term studies is vital, as injuries associated with CIC do not tend to make themselves apparent until after several years. All studies of the LoFric catheters have produced very good results, especially when used for a long period of time (approx. ten years). Comparative studies using ordinary catheters with gel tell a very different story. In patients using these catheters, urethral strictures and inflammations are common.
